"Outstanding" Oak Parlor Ice Box was made by the Knickerbocker Co. in New York (the Knickerbocker Co. was started in 1855, its primary business was ice, obtaining and storing it and later making ice and they also manufactured Ice Boxes). This Ice Box is actually constructed of oak (not ash or elm that look like oak). It has two doors, both with a large amount of applied carving. The upper door has a shaped, beveled mirror and the top and the sides are paneled. At both front corners are carved heads, below the heads are rope twisted columns that end in large claw feet. This ice box has all of its original tin insides, including the shelves, and all the original hardware to include the brass "Knickerbocker" tag. This piece has been refinished and isready to be shown off in your home.
